Kornerupine is a very rare pleochroic gemstone.  Depending on the axis being observed, colors range from brownish, bluish, greenish color to yellowish or even lavender/purple color.
Commonly the stone is oriented to cut on the green axis, however in the case of our stones below either axis has excellent color for faceting. (East Africa produces some of the finest color stones, but the stones are usually very small in size, so our pieces below are considered quite large for this material.) 

This selection of Tanzanian Kornerupine has a wonderful sea-green (bluish-green) color axis and a great lavender color axis that looks almost like Tanzanite!  This is some of the largest and best colored Kornerupine I have seen in a long time.  * Click here to see the contrasting axis colors *

As with most Kornerupine, the material does have some inclusions.  The material actually has very good clarity, and only under 10X is it obvious that there are some veils and bubbles.  Not bad for this rare gemstone!
