This page contains our Mali Garnet rough from the Ugrandite Garnet subgroup (Uvarovite, Grossular, Andradite).  Mali Garnet is a rare combination of the Grossular and Andradite garnet giving it a very high RI.  When faceted, these sparkle with fire!

The colors of these garnets range from honey-brown to the very rare Chrome Green color.  Typically colors are yellowish-green, mint green, and chartreuse.  Generally these stones also color shift depending on the lighting...under incandescent they have a more yellow tone, and in natural light more green.

A few notes on the material below:

The select stones below have been carefully graded using 10X magnification and checked for fractures.  This is important as the high RI and brightness of the material make it very difficult to see the flaws.  Almost all Mali garnet appears "eye-clean" even with significant fractures!  And it is quite typical for Mali garnet to have these fractures - which is certainly a quality issue when cutting these stones.

A number of customers and clients have related to us about disappointing purchases made from various sources who sell Mali garnet.  We have taken the extra time and effort to make certain that our descriptions are accurate so as not disappoint and not waste your time with returns.  The Mali's we offer are truly fine material.

These are EXCEPTIONALLY LARGE Mali Garnets - these sizes are very rare especially with the superb clarity that these have!  Very high-yield surprisingly clean  rough - These will cut some exceptionally large, bright, and valuable gems !  Mostly Color 6.

Sorry, Sold 14.83cts, 14mmX12mmX9.8mm, a large Mali but this one has a veil/finger-print type inclusion through the stone as marked by the black pen mark. Still pleanty of large clean area to cut (cut a big one and a small one).  Priced to be a good deal for a little work on your part!
