TOURMALINE
Tourmaline is a great gem as it comes in so many colors and bi-colors and is so excellent for jewelry!  The main species are:

  • Dravite - cola brown and reddish or greenish color gems

  • Elbaite - Verdelite (green), Indicolite (blue), Rubellite(red,pink).

Rubelite is a highly sought after and expensive forms of tourmaline. These days it is difficult to fine nice eye-clean Rubelite gems at a sane price. Similarly, a deep emerald green Tourmaline know as  "Chrome Tourmaline" (because it gets its great color from chromium) is equally desired and expensive. Fortunately, we can offer these fine gems from time to time when our miners and collectors in Tanzania have the good fortune to make a discovery. Check What's New? page for  the latest.

OTHER INFO: Even with the deep cola color, this gem sparkles, and the step cutting on the crown adds to the brilliance.  You usually don't see too many "brown" gems offered, so this will make a very distinctive piece of jewelry.

OTHER INFO:  The light color saturation makes this a bright, sparkling gem. This gem is cut from a rare parcel of material that only two dealers in the US are getting from the mine in Mozambique (we are one of them).  Based on the price of the gem material from the other source, these gems should sell for $200.00/ct. or more. We got a great deal, so we can offer a much better price while our current supply lasts. (The mine in Mozambique just raised their price for the gem material by 300%, so we probably won't be rushing to get much more either!)
